Abstract: The effects of NaCl stress on growth and nutrient absorption of oats and wheat seedlings were studied under hydroponics culture conditions, to provide basic information for comparing the two kinds of salt tolerance of crops, as well as the efficient utilization of saline land in Inner Mongolia region. The results showed that NaCl at low concentrations( 40 mmol/L) increased oats and wheat growth, while NaCl at 60 mmol/L for wheat and 80 mmol/L for oats significantly decreased plant height and biomass, and the higher decrements occurred in wheat; NaCl stress reduced the concentration of N in plants of oats and wheat, but increased P concentration in oats and wheat; NaCl stress reduced K+,Ca2+ concentrations, and K+/ Na+,Ca2+/Na+ ratios in both oats and wheat, and the decreasing amplitude was greater in wheat, and the ratios of K+/ Na + were higher in oats than wheat under the same NaCl stress.
