Abstract: Two different genotype winter wheat cultivars with large-spike type cultivars Yumai 66 and small-spike type cultivars Yumai 49,were used to study the differences of the sink activity during grain filling stage on the condition of pond culture.Starch content was measured according to the method of KI-I2,SS and AGPP activities were tested according to the method described by Douglas et al and Tsai et al,IAAO activity was measured according to the method of Chhaya et al.The main results showed that the sucrose synthase(SS)activity in the kernel of two cultivars came to be a single-peak curve, but Yumai 66 reached the peak later than that of Yumai 49,and it sustained a long time.Change of indoleacetic acid oxidase(IAAO)activity in the kernel came to be a double-peak curve, its peak appeared in 15 d and 30 d after anthesis,respectively.ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase(AGPP)activity in the kernel also showed a single-peak curve, the peak appeared in 20 days after anthesis. The peak of starch accumulation of Yumai 66 appeared later than that of Yumai 49,but starch accumulation and starch accumulation rate of Yumai 66 were higher than that of Yumai 49 during middle to latter filling stage, indicating that "Sink" activity of Yumai 66 was stronger than Yumai 49 in the latter filling stage.
