Abstract: Saline-alkaline stressed physiological characteristics of rice mutant( ACR78) were studied under saline-alkaline stress by pot culturing and compared with wild type( Nongda 10).The results showedthat under saline- alkalinestress the soluble sugar larg cumu lated(exept for root),the membrane permeability decxeased in ACR78, and thecontent of praline hacl no obvious change. ACR78 had the higher net photosynthetic rate( Pn),stomatal conductance( Gs),chlorophylla, chlorophyll b,carotenoid, water use efficiency(WUE) and the transpiration rate(Tr) under saline-al-kaline stress than wild type. All the results indicate that there is certain physiological basis of the better tolerancesaline-alkaline stress of ACR78 than wild type.
