Abstract: The effects of exogenous Si on the changes of activities of the plasma membrane H+-ATPase and tonoplast H+-ATPase,H+-PPase and Ca2+-ATPase were investigated in roots of salt-stressed cucumber seedlings(Cucumis sativus L.).The results showed that salt stress significantly decreased the plant growth and the activities of plasma membrane H+-ATPase and tonoplast H+ATPase,H+-PPase and Ca2+-ATPase.Addition of Si markedly increased the activities of plasma membrane H+-ATPase and tonoplast H+-ATPase,H+-PPase and Ca2+-ATPase under salt stress, maintained the activety of proton pumping of tonoplast to some extent and defensed effectively the cytoplasmic acidizing, which may be the important factor for improving the salt tolerance of cucumber by Si.
