Abstract: This study used 768 Chinese Merino(XinJiang JunKen Type). Sequencing and PCR technology were used to analysis KAP1.1(B2A) gene polymorphisms and association of KAP1.1 gene with wool fiber diameter. The results showed six genotypes and 30 bp insertion/deletion of KAP1.1 gene were existed in Chinese Merino(XinJiang Junken Type), which were AA genotype(341 bp), BB genotype(311 bp), CC genotype(281 bp), AB genotype(341 bp/311 bp), AC genotype(341 bp/281 bp) and BC genotype(311 bp/281 bp), respectively. Least square linear model(LSM) analysis indicated that the genotypes AA, BC, AC, AB and CC were not associated with wool curvature, Fineness Dispersion coefficient, staple length, fleece weight, clean fleece weight, wool density(P>0. 05). Genotype BB showed significantly less than BC, AA, AC, AB and CC genotypes in wool fiber diameter(P <0. 05). KAP1.1 gene was proved to be closely related to wool fiber diameter, which can be used as a candidate molecular marker for wool fiber diameter in sheep.
