Abstract: Protein structures, physical and chemical properties, and their functional domain structure encoded by bovine angiopoietin-like protein2(ANGPTL2) gene were analyzed using bioinformatics method. Sequencing and bioinformatics analysis showed that the bovine ANGPTL2 cDNA sequence was 21 141 base pairs long with an open reading frame(ORF) containing 1 482 nucleotides encoding a protein of 493 amino acids. The multiple sequence alignment showed that coding nucleotide sequences of the obtained bovine ANGPTL2 gene had 25. 3%, 24. 7%, 24. 2%, 24. 3%, 24. 8%, 24. 9%, 25. 3%, 25. 5% homology with the corresponding Homo sapiens, Canis lupus familiaris, Ornithorhynchus anatinus, Gallus gallus, Danio rerio, Equus caballus, Mus musculus, Sus scrofa, respectively, and the deduced amino acid sequences had 98. 0%, 96. 8%, 9. 1%, 6. 3%, 6. 9%, 51. 9%, 94. 5%, 98. 2% identity with the corresponding species respectively. Phylogenetic tree analysis of the amino acid sequences of bovine ANGPTL2 and other ANGPTL2 proteins in Homo sapiens, Sus scrofa, Canis familiaris, Equus caballus and other animals showed that, among all the species mentioned above, the nearest relationship exited between Bos taurus and Sus scrofa. Further analysis on the structure and function of the bovine ANGPTL2 protein showed that there were much more ɑ helix than other secondary structure in the bovine ANGPTL2 protein, besides, it had a transmembrane region.
