SSR Analysis of Einkorn Wheats

Abstract: The presence in einkorn wheats of microsatellite loci homoeologous to those in the A genome of hexaploid wheat were studied.Up to 59% of the PCR primer sets for the microsatellite loci of the A genome of hexaploid wheat detected homoeologous loci in multiple accessions of T.urartu,T.monococcum and T.boeoticum,indicating that A genome encoded microsatellite loci are highly,but not completely,conserved between hexaploid wheat and einkorn wheats.Microsatellite loci in einkorn wheats differed from each other in both allele number and the length of individual alleles.For a given locus,its allele number and allele length could also vary among different accessions of T.urartu,T.monococcum or T.boeoticum.
