Abstract: Tomato growth is sensitive to water stress. The stem diameter and leaf area were inhibited seriously by water stress. They were all significantly negative correlated with the value of stress. The height and leaf were not inhibited seriously by water stress on condition that it was cultivated in three spikes. The chloroplast content and stomatal resistance increase, and the plant moisture tensiometer, transpiration, photosynthesis and yield decreased with the increase of soil water deficit.According to the study, tomato should grow on water stress about 0.04MPa before the inflating of fruit on condition that it was cultivated in three spikes, then control the stress under 0.02MPa after the inflating of fruit.
