Effect of Salt Stress on Cells in Root Tips of Barley

Abstract: Changes occurring in cells in root tips of barley(Hordeum hulgare L.)inresponse to moderate salinity treatment were studied.The results were as follows.Saltcaused a decrease of starch grains in the root cap of barley.Starch grains appeared in cellsin the ground meristem region of barley root because of salt treatment.Salt treatment alsocaused a decrease of the mitosis frequency in the meristem region of barley root.
