Abstract: The big-ear,intermediate and multiple-ear vairieties of winter wheat differ in their individual coordinated relations among the number of ears, the number of kernels and the weight of kernels. So far as the best balance point of ear capacity to obtain high yield is concerned, the three varieties are found in the following order:multiple-ear varieties> interme diate varieties>big-ear varieties. The multiple-ear varieties are the highest for the effect of the basic conditions for vegetative growth on the weight of kernels per ear within the population, followed by the big-ear and the intermediate varieties.Increasing the number of kernels per ear proves to be an effective way to increasing the weight of kernels per ear.In creasing the number of spikelets per ear may affect the varieties which demonstrat higher seed setting rates.Decreasing the number of futile spikelets per ear can significantly affect the species sensitive to the environmental conditions.
