Abstract: The study results showed that the protein content in root system of upland rice was higher than that of lowland rice; the POD isozyme bands number in root system of upland rice was less than that of lowland rice, but the total areas of these isozymes bands in the former were larger than that in the latter when they were at seedling and tillering stages. At every development stages the POD isozymes zymograms in root system of upland rice were more stable than that oflowland rice, the COD isozyme bands number in the former was more than that in the latter, but at the seedling and tillering stages the relative activity of COD isozymes in upland rice was mostly lower than that in lowland rice.In the development course of the root system the COD7 bands could be found out even at the flowering period in the upland rice root.In the same course the COD isozyme zymograms in the root system of upland rice were more stable than that oflowland rice.
