Abstract: The studies have proved that both Zhong4 and Zhong5 reserved many good characters of drought resistance coming from Elylrigin glauca, such as strong root system, high ratio of root with crown, capability to regulate the root vitality initiatively under drought condition and to increase water absorption, low ratio of stoma-area with leaf-area, low transpiration consm-ption, capability to set up a water system which can use water efficiently whenever water-stress emerges, having high water potential, little variation of photosynthesis, respiration and permeability of cell membrane when they are treated with different amounts of water and strong recoverability and high adaptability to drought. They are desired resources of wheat germplasm for drought-resistant breeding.

Key words: Wheat, Distand hybrid, Drought resistance
