Abstract: A study on soil fertility and maize yield with different fertilization systems were carried out in fluvo aquic soil in Tianjin. The results indicted that maize yield of NPK, M and NPKM treatments were greater than other treatments. The contents of total N and total P, alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen and available P increased in NPK, M and NPKM treatments. Especially in the M treatment, the contents of total N and total P, alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen and available P increasedby 15.00%, 24.81%, 18.97% and 21.43%, respectively. On the contrary, total N and P were exhausted in the treatments without N or P fertilizer. Similar trends were observed in the case of alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen and available P in the treatments without N and P fertilizers. The N and P fertilizers had significant yield-increasing effects on maize in fluvo-aquic soil.
