Abstract: Three nitrogen efficiency genotypesof eggplants were used to study the enzymes activity involved in nitrogen metabolism under the normal nitrogen supply and low nitrogen stress from the seedling to fruiting stages. The results showed that the activities of nitrate reductase (NR),glutamine synthetase (GS)in the nitrogen efficiency genotypes of eggplant under the low nitrogen stresswere remarkerbly lower than those under the normal nitrogen supply.Comparedwith other genotypes,07-86had stronger enzymes activity involved in nitrogen metabolism.Under the same nitrogen level, the GS andNRacticity of the nitrogen efficiency genotypes were tested from the seedling to fruiting stages.Screening relatively high GS and NR activity of the nitrogen efficiency genotypes is the effective choice of the high nitrogen efficiency genotypes during early stage.
