Abstract: To investigate the effects of cold acclimation on the cold tolerance, the leaves of chrysanthemum ( Chrysanthemum morifolium)were treated at 4 ℃for 5 hours, and then the changes of electrolytic leakage, content of mal2 ondialdehyde level (MDA),soluble protein, proline and activity of 5′2 nucleotidase, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and per2 oxidase (POD)were measured after low temperature stress with different times (0. 5 - 5 h). The results showed that the electrolytic leakage and the content of MDA in leaves treated with cold acclimation were lower than those of non2treated, the contents of proline and the activities of SOD and 5′2 nucleotidase kept higher levels compared with those of controls. The results indicated that the cold tolerance of chrysanthemum was improved by cold acclimation treatment.
