Transfer of the Recessive Male Sterile Gene in Celery

Abstract: The male sterile two2purpose line 0123AB of celery was used as a source of male sterility,the gene of re2 cessive male sterility was transferred to the other three inbred lines as target parents,in accordance with the inheritance of the male sterility and concerned horticultural characters,by crossing,selfing,backcrossing and sibling. The results showed that three new two2purpose line bred from 0123AB had complete male sterility,normal ability to seed,good horticultural characters similar to their male parents.
