Abstract: Since 2004 year, new cotton varieties approved by Hebei Province were all transgenic insect resistant cotton varieties except short??season cotton varieties. Sixty??five varieties were released during five years. Fiber quality was analyzed. The results indicated: Fiber length were mainly within 27.1- 32.7 mm, 86.2 percent belong to types; Fiber strength were mainly within 24.6- 32.0 cN/ tex, 53??85 percent belong to ?? types, neither types, and 20 percent more lower; The micronaire were mainly 36- 53, 13??84 percent were belong to ??types and 83??08 percent to types??From 2004 to 2007, fiber quality appeared better tendency, but in 2008 it appeared descend. In a word, the most shortcoming of cotton varieties approved by Hebei Province is lacking the transgenic insect resistant cotton varieties with length longer than 31 mm, strength stronger than 34 cN/ tex and micronaire within 3.7- 4.2, therefore the breeder should engage to breed the varieties which have more stronger strength.
