Abstract: Based on the results of three years' laboratory and field experiments, it was found that Bensultap ( an analogue of nereistoxin ) is a very effective insecticide against the rice striped borer ( Chilo suppressalis ), the yellow stem borer ( Trypory/a incertulas ) and the rice leaf folder ( Chaphalocrocis medinalis ) . Its characteristics, effectiveness and the mode of action at the rate of 0.75kg ai/ha is discussed. It is a very effective and low mammalian toxic insecticide in comparison with nereistoxin in controlling rice striped borers. In view of the fact that it belongs to a new class of insecticides including Cartap, Evisect and Dimehypo, Bensultap is a promising compound for the control of rice pests that are resistant to organochlorine, organophosph,or-us, and Caroamate insecticides.
