Abstract: This experiment was conducted to determine the effects of different levels of a commercial enzyme complex on growth performance, plasma biochemical parameters and liver histology for Pekin ducks by overfeeding. Ninety-six 35-day-old health male Pekin ducks with similar body weight were randomly assigned into 4 treatments with 6 replicates per treatment and 4 Pekin ducks per replicate. The corn-soybean diet was provided to the four groups of ducks: The control diet and the other three enzyme complex supplemented diets which were 100,200,300 mg /kg enzyme complex supplemented to the control diet, respectively. The feed intake of four treatment groups in the first 2 days was the same in 260 g /bird at 35 d and 300 g /bird at 36 d of age,and then the amount of feed provided to the ducks in each treatment remained unchanging during the other 5 days and was 400 g /( d·bird), for each treatment group respectively. The experimental feeding period lasted 7 d from 35 to 42 d of age. The results showed that: Compared with the control group and the group of 100 mg /kg enzyme complex, the Pekin ducks overfed the diets supplemented with 200,300 mg /kg enzyme complex had better ADG and F /G( P < 0. 05). However, growth performance was no significant differences between the group of 100 mg /kg enzyme complex and the control group( P >0. 05), the 200 mg /kg enzyme complex group and the 300 mg /kg enzyme complex group( P >0. 05). No significant differences in plasma Glu,TG,HDL levels were observed among treatments( P >0. 05) while plasma CHO and LDL levels had significant differences( P < 0. 05). Histology observation showed that swelling of hepatocyte were observed and the cytoplasm was full of fat in each group. No whole cell shape was observed and the cell nuclei are squeezed to one side. Enzyme can increase fat deposition of hepatocyte in force-feeding ducks. In conclusion, supplementation of enzyme complex was beneficial for overfed Pekin ducks, while excess enzyme complex can not induce a better performance.
