Abstract: The present study discussed the developmental expression characteristics of the acyl CoA diacylglycerol acyltransferase genes 1 and 2(DGAT1 and DGAT2) and their relationship to backfat thickness(BF).30 samples from 137 slaughtered Chinese Simmental cattle were divided into thick(H) and thin(L) backfat groups, and the DGAT1 and DGAT2 genes′ expression characteristics and its expression levels in different individuals adipose tissue were analyzed by quantitative PCR technique. The result indicated that both the DGAT1 and DGAT2 had different expressed in the testis, kidney, intercostal muscle, heart, pancreas, backfat, shoulder muscle, liver, greater omental fat,gut fat, spleen, lung, rib eye muscle and lymph. The DGAT1 and DGAT2 mRNA in adipose were higher in H group than those in L group(P0.05),and correlated with backfat thickness(P0.05).The results indicated that DGAT1 and DGAT2 had significant relationship with backfat thickness and were taken as two candidate genes for fattening in beef cattle.
