The Inhibitory Effects of Extract from Basella rubral L. on Tobacco Mosaic Virus

Abstract

Abstract: The inhibitory effects of extract from Basella rubral L. on Tobacco Mosaic Virus was studied. The result showed that the rate of O^-₂ production, MDA content and lasmalemma permeability in tobacco leaves decreased significantly after treated with the extracts. The SOD, CAT and POD activities increased in the first 6 days after treatment, then began to decrease. Lox and PPO activities were always higher than that of CK. The inhibitory effect was better if tobacco was treated with extract of Basella rubral L. before TMV was inoculated.
