A Study on Building up the Regenerate System of Watermelon

Abstract: An effective system for vegetative propagation and culture has been successfully set up by using cotyledons from five watermelon(Citrullus vulgaris) cultivars.High frequency shoot regeration(46 6—94%) was obtained from 6 day old cotyledons of cultivars cultured on medium containing MS+BA5mg/L+IAA0 5 mg/L.Buds elongated on MS medium containing KT 0 2mg/L.The MS medium with 0 1mg/L NAA was used for rooting and the rate of root induction was also above 80%.
