Combining Ability Analysis of Nine Sorghum Characters

Abstract: Two sets of NCⅡ design(3∗4,4∗5) were used to study the broad sense heritability of 9 sorghum characters. The results showed that the inheritance of the growing poriod,plant height,stalk height of the cross strain were mainly due to the controlling of additive genes;thousand grain weight,number of seeds per panicle, grain weight per panicle ,corneous content of seed due to the dominant effect of the parents genes and interactions between them; panicle length and peduncle length due to equal effect of both the additive and nonadditive genes. All these were verified by the analytic results of narrow sense heritabilities.
