Abstract: Studies were carried out in growth room to determine the difference of seedling growth, photosynthesis rate and responses to soil fertility between erect and horizontal leaf type corn. The results indicated that there were not differences in responses to soil fertility from single plants between these two types, but differences were found among different growth~duration varieties. The seedling growth rate and its differences affected by soil fertility showed significant relationship to N. K concentration in leaf. Significant differences existed in photosynthesis rate among different varieties and the influence of soil fertility on photosynthesis rate of corn seedlings was prominent.

Key words: Plant type, Photosynthesis rate, Soil fertility, Corn
