Abstract: Six current upland cotton cultivars were used to study the relationship between speedof boll opening and yield characters, and fiber traits. The results indicated thatthe speed of boll opening was a stable trait there was not statistical significance of correlation coefficient between speed of boll opening and any yield character the negative correlation coefficient wasstatistically significant or highly significant between speed of boll opening and HVI strength, andfiber length, and micronaireand bolls per plant played the most important role in lint yield. It's benefit to breed cotton varieties with both higher Lint yield and better fiber quality based onsynchronous selection of both more boils per plant and stable speed of boll opening.

Key words: Upland cotton, Speed of boll opening, Lint yield, Fiber quality, Synchronous selection
