Abstract: The regenerated plants(R1 and R2) from embryogenic calli of male sterile lines and their hybrids in Seteria italica were investigated. Compared with their parents, their plant height was reduced, ear length shorten, ear shape compacted and the number of tillers and branches increased. Some plants with unusual morphological characters, some plants with better plant shape, some plants with higher insect resistence emerged from the R1 and R2 generations. The sterility of regenerated male sterile plants were enhanced. There appeared three rows of R2 plants with plumper and bigger grains.
