Abstract: The genetic divergence among 41 upland cotton genotypes was quantitatively studied by using principal component analysis. H14. Bailschlo, B163 and other 12 parents were picked out to be regarded as having higher multiple index than others. The fifteen genotypes were grouped into five clusters, in whith the genetic distance, ranged from 9.45 to 30.04, according to their genetic divergence. The results indicated that the genetic basic in upland cotton parents was rich. Variety 'Bailschlo' showed its specific excellence in genetic divergence. But among most of the genotypes, yield character showed a little genetic divergence. So the breeding for high yield varieties should still based on the introduction and creation of new germ plasm resources.
