Abstract: In order to explore the effects of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) on wheat seed germination and seedling growth, the wheat Lumai 18 were used to study the changes of germination traits, physiological characteristics and agronomical traits. The results show that, compared to no soaked seeds, seed germination percentage and seed vigor were increased by 5.83-10.00 percentage and 14.61%-30.52% when soaking seed by ATP with concentration between 10,20 mg/L. In addition, the electric conductivity rate of seed drenched solution was reduced obviously and the activities of peroxidase, dehydrogenase and catalase were increased at different degree. Different concentrations of ATP also promoted root morphological index, root activity and dry matter accumulation of various organs. Compared with control, root activity, shoot dry weight and root dry weight increased by 11.70%, 17.32%, 24.15% respectively when treated by ATP. All the above wheat growth indexes reached maximum at the ATP concentrations of 20 mg/L. In a word, wheat seed soaked by ATP could not only improve germination performance but also promote wheat seedling growth. Therefore, soaking seed with ATP has the value of further research.
