Abstract: Effects of sewage irrigation and cadmium stress on the content of chlorophyll,Vc,protein, soluble sugar and nitrite in spinach have been studied through pot experiment, which included ten treatments with four repeats.Using water and sewage as control, the water and sewage solutions with various concentrations of Cd2+ were used to irrigate spinach. The results indicated that, compared with the water and sewage control, the content of chlorophyll,Vc,protein and soluble sugar decreased and the content of nitrite increased with the rise in concentration of Cd2+.Compared with the treatment of water, under the same concentration of Cd2+ press, the content of protein, soluble sugar and nitrite in spinach treated by sewage increased significantly. However, the content of Vc and chlorophyll decreased significantly. The combined effects of sewage irrigation and Cd press lead to the content of chlorophyll,Vc,protein and soluble sugar in spinach increased,in contrast, the nitrite decreased, the spinach quality deteriorated.
