Abstract: Artemisia ordosica is important sand-fixing plants and desert-steppe predominant plants in Mu Us of south of Ordos plateau. This test researched the effects of AM fungi on the growth and drought-resistance of Artemisia ordosica. The results showed: After inoculating the AM fungi, the growth of Artemisia ordosica plant was promoted, moisture conditions of leaves was improved, stability of leaves cell membrane was strengthened, content of soluble sugar and chlorophyll increased, function of leaves protective and defense system (content of soluble protein, activities of POD and CAT) was enhanced, but Pro content and SOD activity decreased. This research provides the theory basis for the application of AM biotechnology in the desert vegetation restoration and ecology reconstruction.

Key words: Artemisia ordosica, AM fungi, The growth, Drought-resistance
