Abstract: The effects of root-cutting in double ridge stage on the photosynthetic rate and later growth of winter wheat (Shi 8 and Heng 7228) growed in the pot were investigated. The results showed that: Both primary root-cutting and partial adventitious root-cutting decreased the photosynthetic rate after treated for 2 d, but increased it after treated for 20 d; At the same time, dry weight of root, biomass above the ground, and yield of maturity were all reduced; the effects of primary root-cutting on the winter wheat was greater than that of adventitious root-cutting.

Key words: Root-cutting, Photosynthetic rate, Double ridge stage, Winter wheat
