The Effects of Lanthanum, Cerium on the Growth and Alkaline Phosphatase Activity in Root of Cucumber，Chinese Cabbage During Calcium Starvation

Abstract

Abstract: Addition of La³⁺，Ce³⁺ to the culture solution deficient in Ca²⁺ is benificial to the growth of cucumber and Chinese cabbage, relieves the sym-ptom of Ca²⁺ starvation,increases the fresh weight，plant height,and the amount of chlorophyll and protein, La³⁺，Ce³⁺can inhibit the increase of the activity of alkaline phosphatase in root due to calcium starvation, The readdition of La³⁺，Ce³⁺can also inhibit the continuous increase of alkaline phosphatase activity under the condition of Cat+starvation for several days, The effects of Lag+，Ce³⁺are similar to Ca²⁺.
