Abstract: In the seedlings from two maize inbred lines different in cold tolerance when treated at low temperature(4℃), the content of nucleic acid keeps decreasing as the treatment extends, and the reduction of RNA is more obviously than that of DNA. The activities of RNase and DNase increase as the treatment extends. The soluble protein content increases at the beginning and then decreases. The changes of all the above-mentioned items are more obvious in the leaves of the weak cold tolerance inbred line than that of the strong cold tolerance inbred line.

Key words: Low temperature, Leaves of maize seedlings, Nucleic acid, Nucleases
