Abstract: Glutaredoxin(GRX)is a small moleculer and heat-stable protein, which is widely found in animals, plants and microorganisms. Among them, there are more studies in animals and humans, and relatively few studies in plants. The number and types of glutaredoxin genes in different plants are not the same. Glutaredoxins usually contain a conservative CXXC/S active site, which can be divided into three types according to the amino acid sequence of the active site:CPYC type, CGFS type and CC type. Among them, the first two types are shared by eukaryotes, while the CC type is unique to terrestrial plants and has the largest number. Glutaredoxin has single sulfhydryl and double sulfhydryl mechanism when it works, and it can reduce disulfide bonds or protein glutathione adducts with the help of glutathione molecules. Glutaredoxin, glutathione, NADPH and glutathione reductase together form the glutathione system. Glutaredoxin in plants, together with the thioredoxin system, the ascorbate glutathione cycle system, and so on. Participate in the maintenance of the redox state of the cell and the regulation of various cell processes, and it resists biological and non-biological oxidation in plant cells. It plays a very important role in coercion. In addition, glutaredoxin also plays an important role in plant growth and development, nitrogen metabolism and iron-sulfur cluster formation. This article briefly introduces the naming, classification, mechanism of action and functions of glutaredoxin in plants in order to have a deeper understanding of it.
