Abstract: To study the type and distribution of influenza virus receptors in Cherry valley ducks,SAα2,3-Gal and SAα2,6-Gal influenza viruses receptors in respiratory tract and alimentary tract of Cherry valley ducks were investigated by affinity immunohistochemical method in this study. Results showed that there were abundant SAα2,6-Gal and SAα2,3-Gal in the trachea, bronchus, alveolar epithelium cell of Cherry valley duck. But the expression of the two receptors was different in the rectum,SAα2,3-Gal receptor in the rectum showed a high density distribution, while SAα2,6-Gal receptor was slightly lower. In Cherry valley ducks,SAα2,3-Gal and SAα2,6-Gal receptor both could be expressed, these showed that Cherry valley duck was susceptible not only to avian influenza virus but also to human influenza virus.

Key words: Cherry valley ducks, Influenza A virus, Sialic acid receptors, Affinity immunohistochemistry
