Abstract: The Jinshan 27 was grown under farmer cultivation(NH),high yield and high efficiency(GCGX), higher yield(ZGC) and super-high yield and high efficiency(ZGCGX) condition in 2009 and 2010,to study the root distribution space-time and physiological characteristics of spring maize of different cultivation patterns. The results showed that the root dry weight was first up then down with the growing process and the maximum appeared at silking stage, and ZGCGX ZGC GCGX NH in each growth stage. The percentage of root weight of different soil was a single apex with growing, its was NH GCGX ZGC ZGCGC in 0- 20 cm soil layer and ZGCGX ZGC GCGX NH in 20- 40,40- 60 cm soil layer. The root vigor of different cultivation patterns was the maximum at silking stage, and the mixmum appear at milking stage, and ZGCGX NH GCGX ZGC. SOD and POD activity of root of four cultivation patterns was ZGCGX NH GCGX ZGC in 0- 20,20- 40 cm soil layer, and ZGCGX GCGX NH ZGC in 40- 60 cm soil layer. MDA content of root of different soil layer was ZGC GCGX NH ZGCGX at silking stage, and NH ZGC GCGX ZGCGX at milking stage.
