Abstract: In order to study the resistance and variance of Florfenicol resistance gene(flor) of E. coli from different animals,23 and 14 strains of E. coli isolates respectively from poultry and swine at Baoding region were characterized for drug resistance. And the variance of the flor gene was analyzed with PCR and gene sequencing. The results indicated that 62% isolates from poultry and 58% from swine performanced florfenicol resistance. The homology of the flor gene from different animals was 99. 8% . There were three amino acid substitutions in the flor gene between the sequences coloned and that from GenBank reported. Three point mutations were respectively discovered in the ORF of the gene flor from poutry isolates and swine isolates.
