Abstract: A pot experiment was conducted to study the recovery mechanism of maize photosynthetic after water deficit during seedling stage. The results indicated that, maize leaves in different water deficit treatments could restore to normal growth within 30 d after re-water.Under mild water deficit, 10 days was need to restore to normal stomatal conductance(Gs) and transpiration rate(Tr),20 days was need to restore to normal net photosynthetic rate(Pn) and intercellular CO2 concentration(Ci),longer duration was need to restore to normal chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of PS (Fv/Fm、Fv/Fo) and photosynthetic pigment content. The recovery of different physiological indexesunder serious water deficit waslogged behind that under mild water deficit.Under mild water stress, the recovery of net photosynthetic rate mainly depends on stomatal factors.Under serious water deficit, the recovery of net photosynthetic rate mainly depends on non-stomatal factors within 10 days after re-water,while 10 days later stomatal factors still became main determinants.
