Abstract: In order to study the inheritance pattern of maize ear tip??barren, diallel crossing analyses made with 3 non tip??barren parents which were Lx9801, Lx001, Lx013 and 3 tip??barren which were Wx041, Wx042,Ye502 was stuied. The results indicated that the tip??barren phenomenon was controlled by genes and there was no maternal effect. The nar??row??sense heritability of the tip??barren was 0. 6328 and the broad??sense heritability was 0. 9098. The ear tip??barrenlength correlated significantly with ear length, ear diameter, row number per ear, gain number per row and axes diameter.
