Abstract: Field plot experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of controlled-releases coated urea on wheat yield and apparent N recovery rates. The yields and apparent N recovery rates of 30% urea, 35% coated urea with releasing time in 90 d and 35% coated urea with releasing time in 120 d mixed application (F2) were the best. Compared with 40% basal to 60% top dressing urea applied at jointing stage (F1), the yields and apparent N recovery rates of F2increased by 5. 36% - 7. 16% and 13. 03% - 16. 72%, respectively. From 0- 40 cm depth of soil, 30% coated urea with releasing time in 30 d, 35% coated urea with releasing time in 90 d and 35% coated urea with releasing time in 120 d mixed application (F3) had the highest soil residual N. And soil apparent N loss of F3 were the lowest in all treatments.

Key words: Controlled-release coated urea, Winter wheat, Yields, Apparent N recovery rates
