Abstract: To study the effect of two kinds of hormones on viability of stigma of the malesterile line,we carried out the split-plot design experiment, according to the successful experience of the hybrid rice seed production about using the hormone,in which MET in seed dressing of different concentration was the main plot, and spurting GA3 was the split plot. The results showed that it could enhance the viability of stigma obviously by MET in seed dressing, thus could improve the outcrossing rate, because it could increase stigma length 1.76%-7.92%,stigma exsertion rate 0.39%-5.03% and angle of grain husk 5.41%-16.07%.However,further application of GA3 could not raise the viability of stigma;MET in seed dressing could also make the peak of stigma viability 3-4 d in advance, but could not lengthen the duration of pollination.120 g/ha was the best concentration for MET in seed dressing, and over 55.87% of outcrossing rate was obtained in the hybrid seed production.
