Abstract: Inoculation of leaf on Helminthosporium Maydis Nisk and observation of anther and pollen and fertility restoration-retention identification indicated that JnA should be classified into group S of cytoplamic male sterility. At the same time, fertility observation of F2 and microscopy identification of F1 pollen through I-KI dyeing confirmed this conclusion.Several sterile plants and halfrestore plants were found in F2 of JnA×Hui 313,which indicated that restoration of sterile character of JnA was controlled by main effect gene and micro-effect polygene.Through the study for cytology of JnA,JnA aborted at late microspore stage to 2-celled pollen stage.Abortion was related to abnormal split of tapetum. At the same time, feasibility for application of JnA in production was also studied.
