Abstract: High sensitive microfluorescent method was used to study microspore development of cytoplasmic and genic male sterility of maize inbred in the same background in order to compare microspore development of homokaryotic heteroplasmon and homoplasmic near isogenic line, from which to find new rules. The result indicated that the microspores of all types of male sterile maize displayed degradation of nuclear matters, just the time was different. It was thought that the cytological essense of male sterility was essentially a process of cell degradation.
