Abstract: Six maize populations and their hybrids produced in a complete diallel mating scheme were evaluated at 3 locations. Characters were analysed under the model of ANALYSISⅡ  Ⅲ of Gardner  Eberhart. The results showed that Xubai population had highest yield vj(P<0.01),lowest hj (P<0.01)and middle gj; Luomeng synthetic had highest yield gj,higher vj and hj; Ernan 24 population had higher yield vj and gj,lower hj.The three populations had good agronomic characters, and they should be further improved for SCA.Luomeng synthetic can be used for selecting inbred lines.BSSS,with lowest yield vj,highest hj,middle gj and lack of disease resistance and adaptability, should be further improved through mass, selection. Both Xuhuang population and Xin population No.2 should not be further improved because of their had performances. The cross of BSSS×Ernan 24 population, with higher yield and heterosis, can be used as recurrent selection populations for further improvenent.

Key words: Maize, Complete diallel cross, Population, Recurrent selection
