Abstract: When cotton infected by Verticillium wilt disease but without disease symptom, the disease-sensitive varieties displayed higher activities of SOD, POD, membrane lipid peroxidation and lower concent of soluble protein than disease-tolerant varieties. After appearing of disease symptom, the activities of SOD,POD of tolerant varieties increased significantly with respect to those of sensitive ones decreased of increased slightly. The content of soluble protein of sensitive varieties increased while decreased in tolerant ones.Dielectric leaking rate and MDA content of the two resistant type varieties increased after appearance of disease symptom, while the increase of sensitive varieties were far higher than those of tolerant ones. The research indicated that the changes of activities of SOD,POD were correlated with the disease resistance significantly.
