Abstract: The combining ability of 6 parents and their F1, F2of soybean was studied by use of diallel crosses design. The variance analysis of general combining ability and specific combining ability in most characters were almost significant. Yudou 6 and Zheng 8431 have a better general combining ability effect. The specific combining ability effects of crosses in the same character or characters in the same cross have obvious difference in F1and F2. Character selection in each generation should depend on its genetic ability. The genetic ability of seed weight of single plant is rather low, so it is better not to select it in early generations.
