Abstract: Leptin is the protein hormone encoded by obese gene in fat cells. It is synthesized and secreted by fat tissue. Leptin acts on the hypothalamus and signals available energy reserves, suppresses appetite and food intake, increases energy expenditure and regulates body weight. Leptin gene and leptin receptors play an important role in energy balance and adipose tissue deposition. Nutrients can regulate gene expression through various ways, and then affect the metabolic process of the organism. We have briefly summarized the effect of nutritional factors such as fat and fatty acids, protein and amino acids, carbohydrate, vitamin, mineral, plant and its extract, hormone on the expression of leptin and its receptor gene and its regulatory mechanism.

Key words: Trophic factors, Leptin, Leptin receptor, Gene expression, Regulatory mechanism
