Abstract: The aim was to study on the biological characteristics of chicken UCMSCs by isolating culture in vitro. UCMSCs was isolated from umbilical cord of 11 -15 day-old chicken embryos. The suitable culture medium for UCMSCs was L-DMEM. Then the morphology and the growing proliferation condition and the differentiation po- tential in vitro of the chicken UCMSCs were observed. The results showed that Chicken UCMSCs can be cultured in vitro and have been passed to 30 generation. The UCMSCs expressed CD29,CD44 and CDT1,results displayed that the UCMSCs had the differentiation potential to isletβ-cells. UCMSCs from chicken can proliferate rapidly in vitro and be induced to isletβ-cells.
