Abstract: F2:3populations consisted of 284 plants were developed from the cross between a normal maize inbred 8984 and a high-oil maize inbred GY220,and a genetic linkage map including 185 SSR markers constructed?by (8984/GY220) F2population. The quantitative trait loci (QTL) of starch content were identified and their?effects were evaluated using SeedTraitQTL containing maternal effect. A total of seven QTL were detected in the F2:3?population,located on chromosome 5,8 and 10 respectively. Six QTLs showed partially dominant effects but qSTA83 showed additive. Contribution of single QTL to phenotypic variation varied from 5. 87% to 10. 93%,and total contributions of all QTLs were 53. 38%. The allele of all QTLs were contributed by the normal maize parent 8984. The?QTL qSTA5-2 with higher contribution could be used as the main objective QTL in fine mapping.
