Abstract: Zhengdan 958 and Nongda 364 were adopted in this experiment, morphology, protective enzymes and membrane permeability of tassels of maize(Zea maysL.) varieties were comparatively studied under field condition. The results showed that morphology index changed with an " S" curve of shape during the whole growth period, and all the indexes fit a polynomial model. Membrane lipid peroxidation and cell membrane permeability in tassel increased gradually as a whole, and reached its peak value at mature period. Activity of CAT and POD of tassel of two maize genotypes reached peak value at dispersing period and then decreased continuously, lower decline rate was found in POD activity, indicating POD was mainly responsible for scavenging against active oxygen.
